September, 2015 saw The Belgian Beer Company bringing a phenomenal first to Cape Town with the The Beer Trade Show, hosted by The Belgian Beer Company and Den Anker in the V&A Waterfront. The weather could not have been more perfect to highlight some of the best beers in the business in this spectacular setting.
The Beer Trade Show was a fantastic representation of some of the premier Craft Beers available in and around Cape Town right now. Brewmasters and clients (both current and prospective) had a relaxed afternoon in which they could sample, discuss, share and compare under one roof. Each attendee was greeted with a Beer Trade Show sampling glass, and a bespoke pencil and notebook, which listed every Brewery presented and their respective beers. Comment boxes were added for each beer, so no personal thoughts or opinions could be forgotten after this noteworthy afternoon.
Den Anker ensured bellies were kept lined with superb snacks, which perfectly complemented the array of Craft Beers available from 12 Craft Brewery representatives. Brews available for discussion, and some for sampling, included:
Belgian Beer Company; DarlingBrew; Striped Horse; Citizen; Beverage People – bringing BrewDog and Fullers; Lakeside Beerworks; Harfield Beer Company; Jack Black’s Brewing Company; CBC; Stellenbrau; The Beer Merchant; Woodstock Brewery
bevPlus provided a selection of dispensers, bottles and cooling units for consideration, and SpÜlboy showcased some innovative washing devices.
And, on departing, just in case you were completely lost as to where to start your Cape Craft Beer journey again with regard to all the brilliant beers available within the Cape Town surrounds… the Craft Beer Map was available to take home with you from Holger Meier.
Cheers to the continuation of the Cape Craft Beer adventures. Enjoy the Journey!
